Poetry Friday: On Revisions

I steal all my best poetry. This one came from Bowen Press:

"Character and Life"
by Jane Hirshfield

The young novelist held underwater
the head of the character in his
book he loved best.
In the book, and as he wrote,
he counted until he
was sure it was finished.

Oh, yeah :) My crit member just mentioned to me how much she hated one of my (evil) characters, and it made me re-think of this poem...and how good it would be to do the same to her!!
